SOLAR DATA SCIENTIST

Colorado or California

As a Data Scientist on the Power Factors’ Solar Product team, you will investigate analytical and characterization questions across all aspects of photovoltaics performance, operations, management and reporting. Be prepared to explore a wide variety of data science tool sets to extract information from diverse data sets. The best candidates will be curious and willing to continually take on new challenges and opportunities to learn (new programing languages, techniques, technologies). You will provide well defined solutions to our Software Development team for implementation in Power Factors’ Drive platform.

In this role, you will be reporting to the Principal Solar Data Scientist and Project Manager and you will be an active member of a team composed of passionate and highly qualified professionals that aims at changing the energy landscape. More precisely, your role will be to:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with other members of the Solar Data Science team to explore analytical problems and solutions;
  • Work independently to investigate and develop specific characterization techniques;
  • Integrate and maintain targeted characterizations in the broader context of applied, predictive and prescriptive analytics;
  • Ensure that analytics are robust and resilient in a production environment with diverse assets and variable data quality;
  • Write sophisticated machine learning and data analysis code in Python, R or MATLAB;
  • Work closely with other Solar Data Scientists and Software Engineering Team to maintain coding standards and revision control to facilitate seamless integration of new capabilities;
  • Work with Data Engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and analytics;
  • Develop, verify and validate analytics to address customer needs and requirements;
  • Continuously strive to efficiently deliver actionable information to Power Factors’ customers. You will interact directly with internal and external Performance Engineers to design solutions that help them solve real world problems and drive value.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, in Computer Science, or in a related field;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience as a Data Scientist ideally in the renewable Energy field including in Solar;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with programming languages (Python strongly preferred; C#, R, MATLAB also relevant);
  • Demonstrated, practical experience with a variety of data science tools and techniques such as machine learning, neural networks, condition monitoring and pattern recognition;
  • Solid knowledge in statistics and mathematics;
  • Good understanding of machine learning and data mining algorithms;
  • Demonstrated skill at data preprocessing, data modeling and data quality assessment (especially as related to time series data);/span>
  • Demonstrated skill at using the right algorithms to analyze the data and provide meaningful insights;
  • Demonstrated skill in research ability for new algorithm development and deployment;
  • Demonstrated skill in feature extraction and real-time analytics development and deployment;
  • Ability to continuously learn and explore new techniques to provide insights and answers;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are a must;
  • Experience with cloud analytics engines a plus (e.g. Azure ML, Google TensorFlow, etc.) will be considered an asset;
  • Experience using version control (Git preferred) for collaborative code development will be considered an asset;
  • Experience developing analytics for product solutions is also considered an asset;
  • Availability to travel on occasions or as required (10% of the time approximately).

JUNIOR MARKETING SPECIALIST

Power Factors is growing rapidly and we are looking for a passionate, driven candidate to kick start our Product Marketing team with a mix of product marketing experience and deep love of technology and the Renewable Energy industry.  The Junior Marketing Specialist will define the messaging strategy and ideate how best to present that message.  He/she will be responsible for the full spectrum of Product Marketing activities such as product launches, building awareness, content support for events/campaigns and sales enablement activities, market intelligence, and thought leadership.  This means you’ll be providing content to help with demand generation (branding, marketing), pre-sales activities (RFP responses, product information, webinars), post-sales (customer testimonials, value outcomes), and thought leadership (whitepapers, blogs, articles).

 

This position requires close interaction with Account Management, Marketing Communications, and Product Management.  The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, experience creating content, and most importantly be able to think creatively to translate technical features and functions into business value.  You must have demonstrable product marketing experience for enterprise software in the field of Cloud/SaaS, Industrial IoT, Big Data Analytics, Field Service Management, and/or Renewables industry.  This role will report to the SVP – Global Sales, Marketing, and Business Development and is located at Power Factors headquarters in Larkspur, California.

 

RESPONSABILITIES

 

  • Lead and execute marketing campaigns to promote product/service portfolio and measure effectiveness through campaign metrics;
  • Own the product launch by collaborating with product management, marketing, sales, engineering, and customer success teams to ensure initiatives around new releases are launched effectively and on-time;
  • Craft internal- and external-facing content for product releases, technical vision blogs, engagement campaigns, running educational webinars, and sales collateral related to value proposition and product functionality;
  • Develop clear and compelling value propositions that address customer outcomes by understanding and analyzing customer needs;
  • Dream up and coordinate engaging product demonstrations that are used at events, in videos and are the basis for customer engagements in the buyer journey;
  • Work with engineering design and product management to define voice, tone, and terminology within the product;
  • Coordinate with product management, sales, and business development teams to develop go-to-market tactics and pricing approaches;
  • Provide Sales training to align sales tools and the ideal sales process to the typical buying process;
  • Create and market customer references and case studies to highlight software and analytics proof points;
  • Gather competitive intelligence to benchmark and maintain competitive fact base for differentiation in sales pursuits;
  • Implement and leverage marketing automation tools (Pardot) for lead generation;
  • Conduct win/loss analysis to foster a continual improvement of the sales process;
  • Ensure all aspects of business are on brand, consistent, focused on customer outcomes, and employ best practices.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree with 2 years of experience in product marketing, strategic marketing, or related field;
  • Demonstrated ability to generate compelling stories and possess the innate ability to make the complex simple;
  • Technical background or strong aptitude for technology with ability to quickly understand and learn product functionality and capabilities;
  • Prior experience creating launch strategy, buyer personas, market messaging, campaign management, and channel development;
  • Experience using data to drive decision-making;
  • Experience crafting, driving, and running go-to-market plans across all channels;

Power Factors is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our rapidly growing company.  The Finance Manager will be responsible for the budget process, applying accounting principles and procedures in order to analyze financial information, collaborating with the team to prepare accurate and timely reports and financial statements and to ensure proper control of accounting procedures.

The Finance Manager must be able to build strong relationships as a trusted business partner using insight to advise others on the best practices.  This individual will play a key role on our Canadian team and will be required to manage key Finance and Accounting functions. More, precisely, the Finance Manager will:

 

REPONSABILITIES

  • Ensure that all accounting records are kept in accordance with procedures and policies;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as the integrity of all financial data;
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance;
  • Analyze complex financial information, reports and trends to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes;
  • Oversee and manage the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modeling tools;
  • Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis;
  • Quarterly and Monthly Financial reports and statements;

Power Factors is looking for a Specialist, Quality Assurance Automation to join our rapidly growing company. As a team member the Quality Assurance department, you will be working with our excellent software development team to ensure we deliver the highest quality cloud-based asset management platform free of bugs or other defects. More precisely, your role will be to:

 

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Plan and estimation test automation solutions;
  • Identify and create automation test scenarios from specifications;
  • Design, develop and execute regression testing techniques and procedures to ensure product changes and features have been implemented successfully;
  • Design, develop and maintain automation framework;
  • Implement end-to-end test automation and tools strategies/roadmaps, including performance testing;
  • Perform tasks required for automated test implementation, including create; functional/regression test scenarios, implement data management strategy, and generate required reports;
  • Adopt best practices when developing automation code including comment documentation, maintainability, and data-driven development;
  • Communicate results clearly and precisely.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or appropriate technical degree or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant QA testing experience and design experience in real-time environment;
  • Experience with SQL queries and a good understanding of relational databases
  • Full understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Power Factors is rapidly growing and is looking for a new Manager of Implementation Engineering to join our team. As the Manager of Implementation Engineering, you will lead a team of engineers and specialists as we implement renewable energy plants into our Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. The SaaS is used to configure supporting records, displays, and reports that will be used by operators, analysts and managers to drive performance improvements and comply with their reporting requirements.

This position is in Power Factors’ offices in Brossard, QC. This position will report to the Director of Engineering Operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide team with subject matter expertise in renewable technologies;
  • Lead a team of engineers and specialists;
  • Provide team mentorship and skills development of Implementation team;
  • Drive internal standard development for Data Acquisition Systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (DAS/SCADA);
  • Work with our Customers and engineers to gather, process, and interpret project information and documentation;
  • Configure servers, clients, network, and devices to establish communications;
  • Validate data flows, troubleshoot, and resolve communication and data issues;
  • Configure and validate performance reports, alarms & events, dashboards, and mimic displays;
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and closeout responsibilities;
  • Serve as the face of Power Factors with our Customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical,Computer Science or Mechanical, Chemical);
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec(OIQ) considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 8 years of related work experience including 3 years of team management;
  • Solid working knowledge in DAS/SCADA such as networked equipment and data connections;
  • Industry equipment experience in Wind, Solar and Metering and protection;

Power Factors is seeking qualified applicants for Customer Success Manager (CSM). Our CSMs are responsible for developing and sustaining Customer relationships that promote retention and loyalty through continuous engagement with our Customers at many levels. The CSM’s job is to listen to, and anticipate, our Customers’ evolving needs and use cases and then ensure they extract the most value from our platform to achieve their desired outcomes.

The CSM requires a deep understanding of the Renewable Energy industry, including a familiarity with the core business functions of Asset Management, Operations & Maintenance, Performance Monitoring and other related disciplines. The CSM must be able communicate our vision and value-propositions and articulate the specific technical, business, and commercial aspects of our SaaS products and services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the client experience throughout the life of the engagement with Power Factors to Ensure client satisfaction and 100% referenceability;
  • Coordinating internal resources (Product, Development, Engineering, Sales) on behalf of our Customer’s interests to achieve their desired business outcomes;
  • Maintaining a complete understanding of our products and services and serving as the face of Power Factors with our Customers;
  • Creating and improving policies and procedures that optimize the customer experience;
  • Acting as a Voice of the Customer by representing their perspectives and interests in areas such as Product Roadmap, Technical Support, Quality, etc.;

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors/Masters in a technical field such as Engineering, IT or in a related field;
  • Project management certifications (PMP/Prince/Agile) is considered an asset;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in Renewable Energy (Solar/Wind/Storage);
  • Relevant work experience in supervising employees;

Power Factors is growing, and we are seeking a Salesforce Developer to complete our Salesforce team and to help us build and deliver a best in class Salesforce Platform.

In this role, you will be reporting to the Manager, Salesforce Development and you will have the mandate to participate in the design, development and deployment of Salesforce solutions on the Force.com Platform.

We are looking for team players with a passion for technologies while possessing significant depth of technical expertise in Salesforce and Force.com. and a curiosity for the Renewable Energy industry.  These positions are located in our Brossard offices, on the South Shore of Montreal.

 

RESPONSABILITIES

 

  • Build customized solutions in Salesforce.com and associated systems that aims at supporting business requirements and processes;
  • Configure and ensure custom development using Saleforce.com, Apex Classes, Triggers, Visualforce, Process Builder, Visual Work flows, Approvals, Reports, Page layouts, Email Services, SOQL, SOSL;
  • Maintain and configure Salesforce1 Mobile app;
  • Aim for defect-free programming, create and maintain quality code, provide support during testing cycles and post-production deployment, engage in peer code reviews;

DATA ANALYST (SOLAR & WIND)

Power Factors is rapidly growing and we are looking for a Data Analyst (Solar & Wind) to join our team and to provide cross-functional support to a variety of team across the organization by developing and implementing tools that will provide critical insight into data quality, performance and product functionality. The Data Analyst will have a proven track record of delivering creative value-added solutions and tools such as reports, analytics and visualizations to make quality, data-driven decisions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Data Scientists/ Wind to build and maintain internal infrastructure including data auditing, processing and visualization tools (both internal and external stakeholders);
  • Define, develop an implement metrics to track and report progress and trends on data architecture, content, quality and engineering;
  • Develop and maintain data stewardship procedures and documentation;
  • Provide support for data requests from internal and external users;
  • Translate requests into replicable analytic reports using a variety of applications;
  • Work with data ingestion teams to develop data expertise and resolve upstream issues relating to data reconciliation and data quality and make appropriate recommendations and propose corrective measures;
  • Develop a data dictionary for metadata management;
  • Create tools to serve data such as APIs and packages;
  • Design and implement data warehouses, real-time ETL, and batch processing of data to support auditing, analytics and reporting needs;
  • Work on special projects (both Solar and Wind section) as request.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology/information systems, or in a related field such as Mathematics, Statistics;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a data Analyst namely with data science process;
  • Ability to write efficient SQL queries;
  • Experience managing data ETL processes and making data available through service applications and databases;
  • Experience with BI / OLAP tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.);
  • Experience working with NoSQL big data technologies (CosmosDB, Hadoop, Spark, Talend, etc.);
  • Experience with or knowledge of REST APIs and making data available through microservices;
  • Experience using version control (Git preferred) for collaborative code development;

Power Factors is growing rapidly and we are looking for a passionate, driven candidate to jump start the IoT Analytics capabilities for our Drive platform.  The ideal candidate will have a mix of Product Management or Business Analyst experience with understanding of Data Science.  As the Product Manager, Analytics & Reporting, you are the glue between customer performance engineering teams, internal analytics subject matter experts, and the software development team by turning market needs into products that delight our users.

Your role will add value for customers and end users by creating reports, semantic data models and a product backlog for additional features to be developed that reflects the company’s overall product strategy and strategic long-term roadmap.  You will be focused on your products’ adoption and the successful realization of product features that solve customers’ problems.  You will be required to balance and analyze multiple sources of information and create organizational transparency into a product’s prioritization and engineering efforts.

The successful candidate has relevant experience with enterprise software in the field of Cloud/SaaS, Big Data Analytics, Reporting, Business Intelligence and/or Industrial IoT.  This role will report to the Vice-President, Product Management and is located at Power Factors office in Brossard, Quebec, Canada.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for Analytics and Reporting product lifecycle and product line success;
  • Help align and prioritize features to ensure adherence to the roadmap;
  • Manage product feature requirements and enhancement request backlog;
  • Provide input to feature implementation decisions and development reviews;
  • Ensure a consistent and cohesive approach across wind and solar analytics and reporting
  • Design and build reports and supporting data queries on a PoC basis using off the shelf tools for further productization by the development team;
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team members to identify common problems and areas for automation and standardization;
  • Drive quality of analytics product, reports and data visualization user experience to best-in-class;
  • Support Proof of Concept programs and customer engagement tasks;
  • Act as the trusted voice of the user for product needs within Power Factors;
